Big dogs show up for Big Cat Weekend

When hosting some of the country’s top talent, you have to pull out all the stops — and that’s exactly what happened during Auburn’s 10th annual Big Cat Weekend.

Gus Malzahn and his staff welcomed recruits to the Plains and then welcomed back some of Auburn football’s greatest greats.

This picture was snapped on Saturday. It features defensive back Carlos Rogers, defensive end Montravius Adams, Chris Davis Jr., and oh, yeah, Cam Newton, too.

Party like it’s 1999

Auburn may have been facing N.C. State on the road, but it didn’t matter one bit.

The Tigers managed a 15-7 win and swept the Raleigh Regional to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals for the second time in program history and the first time since 1999.

Butch Thompson’s team outscored its opponents 40-12 in three wins over the weekend. These are the Auburn players who made the Raleigh Regional All-Tournament team:

  • Most Outstanding Player: Josh Anthony
  • Pitcher: Casey Mize
  • DH: Edouard Julien
  • 3B: Brendan Venter
  • OF: Steven Williams
  • OF: Jay Estes

Now it’s onto the Super Regional next weekend to take on either Florida or Florida Atlantic, but first, here’s a look at the weekend excitement:
