‘That was pretty cool’

Auburn was facing elimination on Sunday, but managed to force a third game in the Gainesville Super Regional.

Luke Jarvis singled home runner Cade Evans in the bottom of the ninth to give the Tigers their first super regional victory in program history. With the 3-2 win, Auburn will get a chance to topple No. 1 Florida on Monday night in Gainesville.

Jarvis wasn’t exactly hot at the plate prior to his big hit, which was his first walk-off winner since youth baseball. In fact, he was 0 for 7 in the super regional. Freshman pitcher Cody Greenville earned the win, allowing only one run in three innings of relief.

Auburn will take on Florida on Monday night (8 p.m. ET; TV: ESPN) with the winner advancing to the College World Series. The Gators haven’t lost back-to-back games at home in McKethan Stadium since April 2017. Pitcher Andrew Mitchell will start for the Tigers.
