AUBURN, Ala. — Kayode Oladele committed to Auburn in December after all.
The 4-star defensive lineman from Champagnat Catholic in Miami altered his plans multiple times throughout the month. But, ultimately, it ended with the result many expected.
Oladele chose Auburn over Florida State and Ole Miss to become the 20th commitment in the class.
“I’ve committed to Auburn,” Oladele said. “I committed because it feels like home here. It feels like family. Every time I’m down here, it’s just really nice, you know. The environment is somewhere I can see myself fitting, and the football program is something I can see myself fitting in with, and the school is a place I can see myself getting an education from.”
Oladele originally planned to officially visit the weekend after his Iron Bowl visit. He had to reschedule that because Auburn made it to the SEC Championship Game. Oladele then planned a Dec. 8-10 official visit setting up for a Dec. 12 commitment on his 19th birthday, but that timeline had to be altered for unspecified reasons.
Auburn managed to get Oladele on an official visit the last weekend of the December contact period.
It paid off, even to the surprise of Oladele.
“I didn’t know [I was going to choose Auburn],” Oladele said. “I took a visit a couple weeks ago, and it just feels different this time. I just really like it. I feel like it’s the best decision for me right now.”
Oladele hasn’t finalized whether he’ll sign this week. He won’t be an early enrollee. Oladele will make a decision on Monday or Tuesday whether he will use the early signing period.
With Oladele’s commitment, Auburn remains at No. 9 in the 247Sports composite team rankings for the Class of 2018.
