“Jeopardy!” has provided its fair share of funny sports moments. Quiz-centric thinkers are likely thinking about a ton of other things, and sports seems to fall by the wayside. When those categories come up, sports fans get to laugh at their quiz knowledge over these supposed quiz geniuses.
Surely though, some well-known national news reporters like CBS’s Lara Logan will be able to get a sports question about a more current event, or say, a Super Bowl quarterback.
When it came to Cam Newton this year, it was hard to avoid conversation about him. Everyone seemed up in arms about every little thing he did on his way to winning the NFL MVP and getting the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl.
Apparently that is not on the radar for Logan, CNN’s Anderson Cooper or MSNBC’s Michael Steele. They simply tapped out when “Who is Cam Newton?” was the question Alex Trebeck was looking for on Monday’s episode of Celebrity Jeopardy!

The contestants did not even try a completely wrong answer. Cooper simply said, “We don’t do sports.” In perfect Trebeck fashion, he provides the answer. I guess this is the point where sports fans say, “Stick to news.”
You would think though that some of the best journalists in the world would pay attention to current events. Or at least hazard a guess as to which quarterback became the first rookie to throw for 4,000 yards in a season.
