The Georgia-Auburn rivalry doesn’t die.
Tuesday was another example of that when Cam Newton ragged on Carolina Panthers teammate Luke Keuchly for taking a day off, and gave some to two former Bulldogs as well.
According to The Charlotte Observer‘s Jonathan Jones, veteran days off are common practice under coach Ron Rivera. Thomas Davis and Charles Johnson, both former Georgia players, fall into that category and enjoy the occasion day off.
Cam Newton, formerly of Auburn, does not.
Newton made sure that Keuckly heard about it on Tuesday, along with taking some jabs at Davis and Johnson in the process.
“Every time we try to give [Cam Newton] one he shows up ready to practice,” Rivera said, per Jones. “It’s a little source of pride right now with him. He’s talking about how the Auburn guys are built a little bit different than the Georgia guys.”
