When former Auburn quarterback and current Carolina Panthers star Cam Newton met with the media on Friday, he gave a shout-out to the employees of a Pizza Hut in Spartanburg, S.C., for filling his pizza order after the store had closed on Thursday night.
The thing is, the restaurant’s employees didn’t know it was Newton until after he left.
WCNC-TV in Charlotte, N.C., got the details of Newton’s pizza run, including how Newton did not reveal his name when making his order. The staff thought nothing of it, as they figured the customer just wanted to keep a low profile.
As it turns out, Newton paid $50 for his pie — cheese with stuffed crust. The employees discovered it was Newton after Googling the Panthers’ roster afterward.
