One insider doesn’t see Gus Malzahn leaving Auburn soon.
On Saturday morning, Chris Landry used Twitter to write that Malzahn’s representatives have been in talks with Auburn officials about re-working the coach’s contract. Landry, a former coach and scout and administrator, also wrote that “all things being equal, the belief is that he’ll stay.”
Here’s Landry’s full message about Malzahn:
Gus Malzahn's reps and Auburn have been in talks about re-working his deal….All things being equal, the belief is that he'll stay…otherwise Arkansas has a big offer ready for him…Winning today complicates timing for a move, but ball definitely in Auburn officials court.

It’s no surprise that Arkansas is interested in Malzahn, given the coach’s deep ties to the Natural State. However, the Tigers’ run to the SEC West title and possible placement in the College Football Playoff complicates this situation for Arkansas officials in their attempt to replace Bret Bielema.
After all, if Malzahn receives everything he wants from Auburn officials, it would be hard to stop the momentum he has produced for his program late this season. It appears the coach has something special brewing on the Plains.
Auburn and Georgia face off in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
