According to SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic, there are three considerations for Auburn’s offensive coordinator opening.
Speaking to Paul Finebaum on Thursday, Cubelic said Arizona State offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, a former Auburn staffer, is “the leader in the clubhouse.” Coach Gus Malzahn must fill the vacancy left after Rhett Lashlee announced his intention to become offensive coordinator at Connecticut.
California offensive coordinator Jake Spavital also is reportedly being considered. Spavital was the Golden Bears’ interim coach after Sonny Dykes was fired earlier this month.
North Carolina State offensive coordinator Eliah Drinkwitz rounds out the three.

It will be interesting to see which direction Auburn goes. Lindsey would offer familiarity but the other two reported candidates have upsides as well.
There will be a bunch riding on the hire. The Tigers expect to enter next season with momentum after an 8-5 record with a Sugar Bowl berth this season. But Auburn’s offense must do its part to help meet the raised expectations.
We’ll learn where the Tigers go with this move in time.
