Former Auburn offensive lineman Jordan Diamond will transfer to Miami (Ohio) to finish his college career.
Diamond made the announcement Thursday on Twitter.
Diamond battled injuries for most of his stint at Auburn and played in only seven games after coming to the school as a four-star prospect. He participated in Auburn’s spring scrimmage in April before announcing his intention to leave the football program.
He had to sit out the 2012 season due to shoulder surgery, missed spring practices due to arthroscopic knee surgery and later underwent back surgery during his sophomore season in September 2014.
Diamond was rated the nation’s No. 10 offensive tackle in 2012, but never quite lived up to the hype. He never started a game at Auburn.
Coaches had high hopes Diamond would make a breakthrough this spring under new offensive line coach Herb Hand, but he mostly spent his time with the second- and third-team units.
“He’s battled through a lot of injuries, and he’s had a lot of adversity,” Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said in March. “He’s one of those guys that I’m really hoping this spring that finds a position and gets confidence in playing and stays healthy. I think that’s his biggest thing, but we’re rooting for him.”
