It has been an uneasy couple of weeks for fans of the Carolina Panthers and former Auburn QB Cam Newton.
But there could be more good times ahead as NFL.com reports that Newton is set to return to the lineup on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints after missing one game with a concussion.
The Tigers’ former Heisman Trophy winner and national championship quarterback left the Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons following a shot to the head. He was diagnosed with a concussion and missed Carolina’s Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. Carolina lost on a last-second field goal.
The Panthers, who represented the NFC in the Super Bowl last season, are off to a 1-4 start. They’ll need Newton to return to MVP form quickly to have a chance to make a return trip to the NFL’s big game.
