Artis-Payne will get the nod after RB Jonathan Stewart suffered a hamstring injury in the first half against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Stewart is expected to miss at least two games and possibly more. Artis-Payne will join former Auburn QB Cam Newton in the backfield.
The second-year tailback has yet to get a carry this season. He ran the ball 45 times for 183 yards and a touchdown in seven games as a rookie in 2015. He will likely split touches with FB Mike Tolbert.
Carolina selected Artis-Payne in fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He ran for 1,608 yards and 13 touchdowns at Auburn in 2014.
