Thursday was a big night for former Auburn running back Roc Thomas.
His new team– Jacksonville State– enjoyed a 31-12 Week 1 victory against North Alabama, and his individual performance was a big reason for the victory.
Thomas rushed a game-high 20 times for 71 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns. He also lead the Gamecocks with four receptions for 53 yards.
The former Auburn rusher scored the first touchdown of the season for Jacksonville State, reaching paydirt from 1-yard out early in the first quarter. He added a 9-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter.
Thomas, who was a 5-star prospect coming out of high school, transferred from Auburn in May. As a sophomore in 2015, he rushed for 261 yards and caught 12 passes for 203 yards for the Tigers.
Jacksonville State plays at LSU on Saturday, Sept. 10, giving Thomas a chance to show his abilities against a SEC defense once again.
