Auburn is moving on after former wide receiver D’haquille “Duke” Williams was dismissed from the program this past Monday. However, Williams took to Instagram Tuesday to apologize to for the altercation that led to his dismissal .
“I just wanna say sorry to my family my teammates and the auburn (sic) family/fans,” Williams wrote underneath a photo slideshow of moments from his career with the Tigers. “I made mistake after mistake so it’s only right I blame myself.”
The senior receiver was dismissed after an altercation at a local Auburn bar after the Tigers defeated San Jose State 35-21 on Oct. 3.
Williams had been disciplined by the team on two prior occasions. He was suspended for the Outback Bowl at the end of last season and he was also suspended for six days because of a practice incident in early August.
Williams was a highly-rated NFL prospect after he led Auburn with 45 catches for 730 yards and five touchdowns in the 2014 season. Williams had 12 catches for 147 yards and five touchdowns through five games this season.
“I will learn from my mistakes,” Williams wrote in the post.”Nobody or nothing will stop me from achieving my dreams and goals.”
Auburn will play its first game since Williams was dismissed Thursday night against Kentucky.
“Ima (sic) miss everything about AU from friends to teammates especially the fans,” Williams wrote. “I wish my brothers the best of luck the rest of this season.”
I just wanna thank Auburn for everything they done for me and the people that helped me I made mistake after mistake so it’s only right I blame myself… I just wanna say sorry to my family my teammates and the auburn family/fans… Everybody love you when Yu on top but once you hit the bottom all the negativity come out but it’s only human I wish my brothers the best of luck the rest of the season do work… Ima miss everything about AU from friends to teammates especially the fans but I can’t hold back I got to live life I’m going get everything that I desire know matter what nobody or nothing will stop me from achieving my dreams and goals it’s human I will learn from my mistakes #WDE
