Coach Gus Malzahn’s Tigers survived five-straight home games with a winning record (3-2, 1-1 SEC). Now Auburn hits the interstate for Starkville, Miss., to play Mississippi State in the first SEC road game of the season.
The game will be physical and the cowbells will be clanging. Here are five Friday predictions:
1. How will Sean White play?
After unexpectedly making his first college start against Mississippi State last season, White will be out to prove he’s become a better quarterback. The sophomore will put together another solid showing and avoid throwing a pick.
2. Which running back will take over for Auburn?
Kerryon Johnson will keep rolling on the road. Sophomore back Kamryn Pettway, who missed last weekend with a bruised quad, will have a chance to ease back into the lineup because Johnson will go off against the Bulldogs.
3. Will Kevin Steele’s defense finally force some turnovers?
Yes, the Tigers will finally recover a fumble and get the pick they’ve been seeking.
4. Will the offensive line be set?
Not exactly. Center Xavier Dampeer was sidelined during Auburn’s homecoming win against ULM with an undisclosed knee injury. Darius James, who stepped in for Dampeer last weekend will make a couple of appearances again, but it won’t affect the line’s play.
5. Who will win in Stark Vegas?
