Marlon Davidson’s commitment to Auburn has been iffy in recent months.
The 5-star defensive end from Montgomery, Ala., has categorized his commitment as “75 percent,” as the Tigers continue to recruit him heavily despite his verbal. Among the program’s tactics to retain Davidson? Double-shot arcade basketball.
Over the weekend, Davidson took an official visit to the Plains, where he went head-to-head with Gus Malzahn. Judging by the video, Malzahn is a big believer in using the backboard. And it certainly paid dividends.
However, it remains to be seen whether a friendly game of arcade basketball is enough to hold on to the No. 19 player in the country, particularly in light of the recent reports that indicate Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is expected to assume the lead coaching role at South Carolina.
What kind of effect his reported departure may have on Davidson’s recruitment remains to be seen.
Davidson is rated as the No. 3 prospect in Alabama.
