AUBURN, Ala. — Gus Malzahn’s newly purchased car became a valuable recruiting tool on Saturday.
Towards the end of Auburn’s Junior Day, the fourth-year head coach took Tray Bishop, a four-star athlete, aside for a quick ride in his new BMW i8. The car boasts Ferrari-like doors and is typically valued at $140,700. The Auburn target snapped a photo and uploaded it to his Facebook page.
“It was crazy,” said Bishop, the No. 10 athlete in 2017. “I never pictured myself riding in something like that until I could get my own.”
Bishop was one of several recruits to attend the event on Saturday. The Dawson, Ga., native is one of the program’s top targets in the 2017 cycle and has maintained the Tigers are his leader, with Georgia and Ole Miss trailing just behind.
