Alabama didn’t wait long to name its next offensive coordinator. After Lane Kiffin announced he would become the next head coach at Florida Atlantic, Alabama head coach Nick Saban wasted little time in announcing that Steve Sarkisian would be the next offensive coordinator.
Like Kiffin, Sarkisian was the head coach at USC before taking a job as Alabama’s offensive analyst. Like Kiffin, Sarkisian was let go by USC in the middle of the season but for very different reasons.
Kiffin will stay on to coach through the College Football Playoff. The internet had a lot of takes on the matter, given Sarkisian’s high profile name and that Alabama is the premier program in college football.

Saw that coming. Saban and Kiffin groomed Sark to take over for Kiffin as soon as he came on board https://t.co/MZ4xHhoLMj

At Washington, Sarkisian married Pro-Style concepts with up-tempo. Style was more advanced than Kiffin's was when Kiffin was hired at Bama.

Already penciling Sark into the FAU head-coaching spot three years from now …

Steve Sarkisian admitted he had a problem, sought help and is trying everyday to live day by day with a disease. He's getting another shot.

Guys in the Alabama facility love Sark. Have heard rave reviews about his work this fall. Hope he makes the most of his chance.

So in three years, Sark will be FAU's coach after Kiffin takes a job leading an SEC program, right?

Good for Sark. Hope he's beat the demons. Best wishes

Alabama takes on Washington in the College Football Playoff. Sarkisian coached at Washington before he took the USC job in December 2013.
