AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn junior quarterback John Franklin III will start at quarterback Saturday against Vanderbilt due to an undisclosed injury for starter Sean White.
Franklin has been used sparingly in several games this season for Auburn, but Saturday will mark his first career start. The East Mississippi Community College transfer has primarily been used in running situations, averaging 9.85 yards per carry.
Auburn has started White, who leads the SEC in three major passing categories, in every game this season. Franklin became White’s permanent backup following a season-opening loss against Clemson.
White’s injury is unknown. He was announced as a starting quarterback in the pregame lineup and went through early warmups, but he didn’t participate in first- or second-team drills at the end of the period. The lineup change was announced a few minutes before kickoff.
Game-time decision: QB John Franklin III will start today instead of Sean White because of an injury.

Franklin is 7 for 11 passing this season for 85 yards and 1 touchdown, which he threw to true freshman wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers against Louisiana-Monroe.
