How cool is this?
If you were paying attention during Auburn’s game against Arkansas on Saturday, you probably noticed a slick digital down marker on the sideline at Jordan-Hare Stadium. ESPN’s Holly Rowe praised the invention on Twitter, tossing a shout-out to Auburn’s Dana Marquez in the process. As stated in his bio, Marquez oversees all aspects of the equipment and apparel for Auburn’s 21 varsity teams.
Loving new invention. Digital down marker. Invented by Auburn. So easy to see on night games Dana Marquez at it again pic.twitter.com/Y6G375DOSg

We live in a digital world, so it makes sense that football would make more of a leap into this realm. The digital down marker provides a clean look, and there’s a certain “Wow!” factor with it. (Who wouldn’t enjoy seeing football move away from chains altogether one day?)
Perhaps we’ll see the digital down marker become more commonplace throughout the country in the near future.
