AUBURN, Ala. — What a difference five days can make.
Brandon Martin, the nation’s top junior college receiver, rescinded his verbal commitment Wednesday to Auburn “to focus on academics and football.” He had just announced his commitment to the Tigers on Friday.
The announcement is another bump in the recruiting road for Martin, who originally signed with LSU out of high school. He plays at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and is a member of the Class of 2017.
The Dallas, Texas native is 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and is 19 years old. He previously picked Auburn over Louisville, Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi State, LSU and others.
“It has been a long journey,” Martin tweeted. “I am very thankful for all the colleges that recruited me and that has been with me through the process.”
The 247Sports Composite rankings list Martin as the nation’s No. 1 receiver out of the junior college ranks.
