I’ll just go ahead and say it: last week didn’t see very many correct recruit picks. 4-star DE Markaviest Bryant from Crisp County (Ga.) joined me as the only Texas A&M pick on the day. We’ll see how things change this week.
This week, I’m going with the hometown Tigers in a defensive struggle — Auburn 16, LSU 13.
SEC Country gathered the Auburn-LSU predictions from several recruits who will attend Saturday’s game. It was, as you might imagine, an Auburn-skewed group.
Here are their responses:
3-star JUCO OL target Jordan Agasiva, Pima C.C.: “I think Auburn will come out on top. All they have to do is stop the run game.”
4-star ATH commit Malcolm Askew, McAdory (Ala.): “27-24 Auburn. This has to be the game that makes or breaks our season and everyone knows that — the team, the coaches and the fans — so I feel like we will pull it off. It will be close, but we will play with high energy the atmosphere will be rocking, and it will go down to the wire.”
3-star 2018 CB target Joseph Foucha, McDonogh 35 (New Orleans): “Auburn 24, LSU 17.”
4-star 2018 OL target Jalil Irvin, Stephenson (Ga.): “I think Auburn will pull out the W because of their home advantage and LSU’s inconsistent quarterback play.”
3-star LB target Thomas Johnston, Spanish Fort (Ala.): “17-14 Auburn. I think Auburn’s defense is good enough to hold them to two scores, and Auburn’s offense is still trying to find their identity, so it will be a low-scoring game. But Auburn out on top.”
3-star DT target Coynis Miller, Jackson-Olin (Ala.): “21-14, AU’s way. I think Auburn will play a solid defensive game and will shut down the running game for LSU.”
3-star safety commit Jordyn Peters, Muscle Shoals (Ala.): “24-17 Auburn. We always play well against LSU. It should be a good defensive game.”
3-star LB target Monty Rice, James Clemens (Ala.): “17-14. Auburn needs this game to stay alive in the SEC West, so I say Auburn 17-14.”
4-star 2018 WR target Justyn Ross, Central (Ala.): “Auburn is going to get the win.”
Unranked 2019 WR target Emil Smith, Etowah (Ala.): “Auburn. I think their defense will stop Fournette — and I’m a die-hard Auburn fan.”
3-star 2018 ATH target Cam Taylor, Prattville (Ala.): “35-21 Auburn. They win because the defense will stop Fournette and play physical on that side of the ball. The offense will put up numbers with the run game if they play it smart running Kam Pettway more and playing the QB spot smart as well, knowing the down and distance.”
4-star OL commit Austin Troxell, Madison Academy (Ala.): “27-17 Auburn.”
3-star ATH target JaTarvious Whitlow, Lafayette School (Ala.): “Auburn 35-21. I believe in them. This game is gonna be a big one. They been working hard and preparing for this W.”
4-star ATH commit Alaric Williams, Southside School (Ala.): “21-17 AU. I feel like the offense will prove people wrong, and Auburn is best when they have to overcome adversity.”
3-star LB commit Chandler Wooten, North Cobb (Ga.): “I think it’s going to be a low-scoring game, honestly. LSU struggles on offense a little bit like we do. They have some lapses. Their defense is always pretty good. Ours is good. I feel like it’ll be a low-scoring game. I’ll say Auburn 21, LSU 17. I’ll give them 17.”
