After signing just one tight end in the 2016 recruiting cycle, Auburn will look to add depth to the position in 2017.
SEC Country examined the program’s top targets below.
Matt Dotson, four-star tight end, Cincinnati, Ohio
Dotson is considered an early favorite to remain in-state to sign with Ohio State, but Auburn will make a push for the four-star tight end. Rated the No. 8 tight end in the country, Dotson has 19 offers. The Ohio native has a similar build to Landon Rice, whom the Tigers signed in the 2016 cycle. At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, Dotson is a name to watch for throughout the year.
Tre’ McKitty, three-star tight end, Orlando, Fla.
All early signs point to Florida as the favorite to sign McKitty, who is one of three tight ends Auburn has offered in this recruiting cycle. The three-star tight end hails from the coveted IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and is rated the No. 15 tight end in 2017. McKitty was formally recruited by Dameyune Craig, who left Auburn for LSU last month. Assistant coach Scott Fountain has since been McKitty’s main point of contact.
Jonathan MacCollister, four-star tight end, Orlando, Fla.
MacCollister, though listed as a defensive end, is being recruited as a tight end by the Tigers. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound athlete is rated the No. 31 strongside defensive end in the country, but has the potential to make a position change at the next level. Auburn is in good shape with MacCollister, who has reported 30 offers.
