After two consecutive years of losing money, Auburn’s athletic department was profitable in 2015 with a strong fiscal year.
Auburn reeled in revenues of just under $9.2 million, which was approximately $22.8 million more than the athletic department earned in 2014 according to a report from AL.com’s Brandon Marcello.
According to Marcello, the reason for this incredible increase in revenue was in part due to the SEC Network. Auburn received more than $27 million in broadcast rights in 2015.
The football program was the biggest contributor to the financial success. Auburn’s football program generated more than $46 million in revenues this season, according to Marcello. Coach Gus Malzahn earned $4,486,760 last year while Bruce Pearl received $2,364,259.
