Gus Malzahn may have lost the SEC Championship Game, but that didn’t stop him from getting paid this weekend.
The Auburn coach secured a new contract with Auburn to the tune of $7 million per season, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.
Gus Malzahn got a 7-year, $49 million contract from Auburn, according to @ClowESPN, who is the Godfather of SEC reporting. Not sure if another website had it first. I'm too busy smoking a brisket

That’s a massive raise for Malzahn, who made $4.7 million in 2017 according to USA Today’s coaching salaries database.
Malzahn most likely used Arkansas, his home state, as leverage to get this deal from Auburn. The Razorbacks will push forward knowing they made a division rival pony up serious cash to retain Malzahn.
