Former Auburn defensive back Tim Irvin announced his intentions to transfer from Auburn in May, and may be close to finding his new home.
East Carolina is the “heavy leader” in his recruitment, according to 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow, who cited sources. Irvin is still hearing from Maryland and has also been in touch with Oregon State, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kansas and Wisconsin, per Bartow.
Irvin’s high school coach and uncle, Sedrick Irvin, is an offensive analyst at East Carolina.
The former 4-star recruit out of Miami saw action in 10 games last season, collecting 18 tackles from the Tigers’ nickel package. Should he end up at an FBS program, Irvin would need to sit out a season because of NCAA transfer rules before resuming his three years of eligibility.
He is the nephew of NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin.
