Former Auburn running back Cameron Artis-Payne was arrested Sunday in North Carolina for speeding, according to WSOC-TV in Charlotte.
Artis-Payne, who plays for the Carolina Panthers, was arrested for driving 102 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to the report.
Artis-Payne’s arrest comes on the heels of a visit to Auburn, where he conducted a youth camp Saturday with former teammate Sammie Coates.
He rushed for 183 yards as a rookie with the Panthers and was hopeful Saturday his role would soon expand with the organization.
“I definitely feel like I’ll see an expanded role,” Artis-Payne told Evan McCullers of 247Sports. “Everybody’s goal is to be a top player at their position, and I’m no different. … I feel like I’ve got a real good grasp on the playbook, and now it’s just going out there and playing fast versus trying to make sure I don’t make a mistake.”
Artis-Payne ran for 1,608 yards — the third-most in Auburn history — in 2014.
