A former Auburn signee reportedly has decided on his next step.
As reported by GoTigers247’s Jonah Jordan on Thursday, safety Carlito Gonzalez is headed to Memphis. Gonzalez signed with Auburn in February. On Monday, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn told reporters that Gonzalez didn’t qualify academically. At the time, Malzahn expected Gonzalez to go the JUCO route.
“He’s in the process of looking for a junior college,” Malzahn said via SEC Country’s Lauren Shute. “He’ll go to a junior college and try to get here.”
Reportedly, those plans have changed.
Gonzalez, who’s 6-foot, 190 pounds, is from Stone Mountain, Ga. He was rated as a 3-star prospect.
Memphis went 8-5 last year under coach Mike Norvell.
Former Auburn signee Carlito Gonzalez has joined the Memphis Tigers. Three-star out of Georgia.
