Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason was arrested on Saturday for resisting arrest, reckless driving, marijuana possession and failure to register a vehicle, according to the Associated Press.
Mason reportedly attempted to drive away from an officer who was trying to pull him over for driving more than twice the speed limit in a 35 mph zone. When the officer managed to stop Mason, he refused to give his name or provide a driver’s license, and the officer thought the car smelled like marijuana.
The former Auburn running back was a third-round draft pick and finished second among rookies in rushing yards in 2014 with 765, along with four touchdowns. But he saw less time following the arrival of UGA star Todd Gurley, and finished the 2015 season with just 207 rushing yards.
Mason was taken to the hospital following the arrest, according to WPLG 10 in Miami. No further details have surfaced at this time.
