Burns joined Arizona State as its running backs coach on Jan. 4 after coaching Middle Tennessee State’s wide receivers in 2015. He also served as a graduate assistant under coach Gus Malzahn at Arkansas State (2012) and with the Tigers (2013).
The 27-year-old from Fort Smith, Ark., played quarterback at Auburn for two seasons. After transitioning to wide receiver in 2009, he tallied 11 receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown in 2010 — helping lead the Tigers to a BCS National Championship.
