Renovations of Jordan-Hare Stadium that were originally scheduled to begin after last season now will wait until at least 2018, athletic director Jay Jacobs told reporters on Tuesday.
“With four of our SEC games coming in here two of which being Alabama and Georgia, I don’t want to disrupt anything for the ’17 season,” Jacobs said.
The university was going to overhaul the north end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium, with new scoreboards, concessions and other amenities. In 2015, it sent a survey to its fans to gauge support for the upgrades, reportedly returned with largely positive feedback — except for those whose seats in the north end zone would be affected by the renovations.
Thus, with a big slate of SEC games scheduled to come through Jordan-Hare next season, the renovations will be delayed even longer.
Auburn has yet to finalize the plans for the north end zone, thus has yet to determine the cost of the renovations. According to the Ledger-Enquirer, it doesn’t have a timeline in place.
