SEC Country Power Poll: Where Auburn is ranked (Week 8)

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn made moves in the national polls upon its return from Fayetteville, Ark., but didn’t have much luck jumping conference teams in rankings.

Gus Malzahn’s team bounced back with a 52-20 win after a disappointing loss in Baton Rouge, but remained behind Alabama and Georgia.

SEC Country’s Power Poll, consisting of 26 voters, placed Alabama in the No. 1 spot, where the Crimson Tide were all last season and where they have been all this season. Georgia stayed at No. 2 during its bye week.

The Tigers will now take advantage of a much-needed bye week before hitting the toughest part of their schedule.

After a week off, Auburn will travel to College Station to face off against Texas A&M. The Aggies just missed the 25th spot in the AP Poll, but received 74 votes from AP voters.

Auburn’s offense rolled the Hogs after it stalled in the second half (yet again) at LSU. The Tigers posted 629 yards of total offense, including 345 yards on the ground.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton and running back Kamryn Pettway, both of whom have struggled with injuries to this point in the season, emerged with notable performances against Arkansas. Junior running back Kerryon Johnson also added 63 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively Auburn held Arkansas to a mere 334 yards while sacking Razorback quarterback Cole Kelley 6 times. Most of Auburn’s scoring drives against Arkansas took less than five minutes and offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey showed flashes of trickery as well.

Auburn will have a chance to pass take down Georgia and Alabama in November, a feat that’s eluded the Tigers for several years now.
