AUBURN, Ala. — Several Auburn players suffered injuries during preseason camp, but coach Gus Malzahn expects those Tigers back this week.
A “handful of guys” remained sidelined for Saturday’s practice at the Auburn Athletics Complex, but Malzahn said that their absence was designed by the coaching staff with the home opener in mind. The coach did not detail every player who sat out, but did name a few.
“Really our plan was to get everybody healthy by Tuesday,” Malzahn said. “I expect everybody to be back Tuesday, ready to go to have two weeks of practices.”
According to Malzahn, senior WR Tony Stevens, who was seen on crutches at Auburn’s Fan Day on Aug. 14, as well as freshman WR Kyle Davis, who missed fall camp after undergoing a procedure on his foot, will be among the returners.
The Tigers will have a regular practice on Sunday and will take Monday off before beginning their game week routine on Tuesday.
