Late Saturday night, one of the new trees at Toomer’s Corner in Auburn caught fire after it was rolled in celebration after the dramatic last-second victory over LSU.
Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs tweeted out early Sunday that the Auburn police department has a suspect in custody.

Video of the incident circling the web shows someone near the tree with some sort of incendiary device before the tree goes up in flames. It’s unknown at this point whether the burning of the tree was intentional or not.
This is the biggest incident with the Toomer’s Corner trees since noted Alabama fan Harvey Updyke poisoned the trees in 2010. Auburn fans had begun rolling the new trees Sept. 10 after the win over Arkansas State.
