AUBURN, Ala. — Big SEC West matchups make for must-read prediction articles.
As we do every Auburn home game, we compiled a list of game predictions from the recruits who are slated to attend the game. In this game, there are a few dozen commits planning on attending the Auburn-Arkansas contest at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Vegas shocked the betting world when it opened Auburn as a 9-point favorite in some places — or at least it seemed like shock. The Tigers have moved as far as minus-11 on some gambling services, so it appears bettors like the Tigers even more than Vegas line-setters expected.
At SEC Country, we run an all-fun, totally-free game selection ring.
Several top recruits who will be at the SEC West showdown chimed in, and they unanimously agreed that Auburn will win the game, but there were varied opinions on the amount of separation between the Tigers and the Razorbacks.
For transparency’s sake, here’s my pick: Auburn 31, Arkansas 20.
But enough about me. Here’s what some highly-rated recruits have to say about the matter.
4-star ATH commit Malcolm Askew: “I say 35-27 Auburn. Our offense is molding at the right time. Defense has been magnificent all year. I believe our defense is better, so that what will win us the game.”
4-star 2018 QB commit Joey Gatewood: “27-21 Auburn.”
4-star safety target Devon Hunter: “I feel like Auburn is going play fundamental football and control the run game. They’ll put some points on the board.”
4-star 2018 OL target Jalil Irvin: “Auburn over Arkansas 42-41 in OT.”
3-star 2018 OL target Will Lawrence: “21-14 Auburn.”
Unranked 2018 DT target Allen Love: “I think Auburn is going to win 21-10. The defense is going to stop Arkansas to where they will not be able to score after halftime.”
4-star LB commit Tadrian Moultry: “It will be a hard fought game. Really defensive game. If Auburn puts the ball in the hands of the running backs and run like they did 2 weeks ago, 21-18 our way.”
Unranked LB target Braelen Oliver: “I have a feeling it’s going to be a close one, but Auburn will hold on and win out. The run game will be effective.”
3-star safety commit Jordyn Peters: “30-17. It should be a great game. Can’t wait.”
Unranked 2018 tight end target Brandon Shellnutt: “28-20, Auburn gets the win. Offense continues to come together. Looking for a big game from my former classmate Kyle Davis.”
3-star ATH target JaTarvious Whitlow: “35-21 Auburn.”
3-star OLB target De’Andre Wilder: “The score will be 23-22. Auburn is going to win.”
4-star ATH commit Alaric Williams: “35-28. AU pulls it out.”
3-star OLB commit Chandler Wooten: “28-21 Auburn.”
