AUBURN, Ala. — The Auburn Tigers gave Gus Malzahn a lot to be excited about during their A-Day game on Saturday afternoon.
The first-team (blue) defeated the backups 37-13 in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
In his debut, Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham didn’t disappoint. The quarterback started the day with a two-straight completions, the second of which was a 50-yard bomb to Nate Craig-Myers.
Stidham would finish the day 16-of-20 for 267 yards, adding a 1-yard touchdown score off of a fumble recovery. Freshman Malik Willis also had a strong showing, completing 11 of his 18 attempts for a total of 157 yards.
Still, there was more for the head coach to be pleased with. The first-team totaled 527 yards of offense in just 62 plays. The Tigers’ defense also had a strong day with the help of Paul James III, who has been making a steady return from a 2016 knee injury.
