AUBURN, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference is expected to release its full list of representatives at SEC Media Days later this week, but why wait?
It looks like the list of Auburn players has already leaked, and Gus Malzahn’s picks to represent the football program are not surprising:
- Defensive end Carl Lawson
- Defensive tackle Montravius Adams
- Receiver Marcus Davis
All three are upperclassmen and are expected to be key contributors for the Tigers this upcoming season. Lawson will garner the biggest spotlight as a potential first-round pick in the NFL Draft next spring, and after a pair of injury-plagued seasons, he’s sure to have a great story to share with national and regional reporters.
Davis will make headlines because of Auburn’s need for him to step up at a spot left vacant without a proven big-play receiver. Can he be the guy?
Adams is always a great interview and tells it like it is, so fans should eat up and take what he has to say to heart.
The addition of Lawson and Adams marks the third time in six years Auburn has been represented by two defensive players at SEC Media Days. Two of the last three times Auburn sent two defensive players to Hoover, Ala., the Tigers advanced to the national championship. Auburn sent two defensive players in 2015, but the Tigers finished 7-6.
SEC Media Days begin Monday and run through Thursday at The Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala. Auburn is the first school scheduled to face the media Monday.
