The Georgia Bulldogs are a national brand. Look no further than the current sitting president speaking about them on the Josh Pate College Football Show for proof. Sitting inside The Varsity, one of the most iconic landmarks in Atlanta, Josh Pate asked President Donald Trump a simple question. How does he decide which college football games to attend?
Trump did not hesitate. He started with South Carolina before quickly pivoting to UGA.
“I look around, and I’ll say South Carolina’s good, and Georgia’s good,” Trump said. “I like Georgia. I like this Georgia team.”
Then he narrowed his focus to Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton. He praised the signal-caller before saying that Gunner will only get better.
“I like your quarterback, by the way. I like Gunner. He’s gonna be a great quarterback. He’s already a great quarterback, but he’s only going to get better.”
Trump then turned directly toward Stockton and pointed at him.
“He’s asking how I judge and how I judge players and which games do I want to go to,” Trump said, explaining the exchange to Gunner. “I want to go to any game that guy—because he’s been a big Trump fan. So, I’m going to be watching him very closely this year.”

Trump closed out his remarks to Stockton by predicting that the QB from Rabun County will have a big year in 2026.
“You’re going to have a big year.”
For Georgia, the moment reinforces the national spotlight already fixed on the program. High expectations surround the roster. The quarterback position always magnifies those expectations. When a president singles out your starter by name, the spotlight intensifies further.
This comes a few days after Trump spoke in Rome, Georgia, where he was accompanied by both Stockton and Herschel Walker.
“Gunner is a big star and a really talented quarterback,” Trump said. “But I heard, much more importantly, he’s a Trump fan. So he was standing at the plane. And anybody that likes me, I like them. But I hear he has a fantastic future.”
Stockton briefly had a chance to speak, saying: “This is a great opportunity just to meet a president and Donald Trump. This is an awesome experience, and I’m just glad to be here.”
