2017 SEC Country Power Poll: Where Florida is ranked (Week 8)

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators had a bye week to sit back and focus on themselves.

It was a timely week for receivers Tyrie Cleveland and Kadarius Toney, offensive lineman Martez Ivey, defensive lineman Jabari Zuniga, defensive back Chauncey Gardner and the rest of Florida’s players on its long-winded injury report to catch a breather.

They had a chance to think about the close wins and even closer losses, the latter especially on their mind as they went into the off week after a 17-16 loss to LSU and 19-17 loss to Texas A&M.

And they had a chance to take a closer look at their offense and figure out what wasn’t working.

Now, the Gators have five games to see if they can turn around their season.

Until then, though, the Gators (3-3, 3-2 SEC) moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest SEC Country Power Poll, just behind Mississippi State and just ahead of South Carolina.

Coming off the bye week, the Gators head into their annual matchup Saturday with the Georgia Bulldogs in Jacksonville, Fla.. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on CBS. The game will be a pivotal one for how the rest of Florida’s season likely plays out. A win gives the Gators a slim chance to win the East for a third straight year. A loss means Florida’s season will be played out fighting for bowl eligibility.

SEC Country’s Power Poll, consisting of 25 voters, placed Alabama in the No. 1 spot, where the Crimson Tide were last week and all season.
