GAINESVILLE, Fla. — What has appeared inevitable for weeks finally happened Wednesday.
Defensive end JaQuan Bailey backed off his pledge to Florida, announcing his decision via Twitter. The 3-star recruit from Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines told SEC Country he was “soft commit” earlier this week.
“I am officially de-committed from the University of Florida,” Bailey wrote in a Twitter post that has since been deleted. “After talking with my family we have decided to open back up my recruiting process.”
Bailey was already planning to visit other schools next month. He also told SEC Country he has work to do academically.
The Gators now have 25 members in their 2016 class.
