The 2016 class is in the books for Florida, and UF coaches have already turned their attention to next year.
The Gators currently have three verbal commitments in their class from quarterback Jake Allen, wide receiver Daquon Green and offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort.
The 2017 needs for UF are running back, wide receiver, tight end, defensive tackle and linebacker.
Here are five recruits for Florida fans to know:
1) Trevon Grimes, five-star WR, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (St. Thomas Aquinas)
Can the Gators land the nation’s No. 2 receiver for the second consecutive year? Grimes (6-3, 180) is the highest-ranked wideout in Florida and faces some of the best competition in the state. He also happens to be teammates with Allen. Grimes attended Junior Day with him last weekend, and moved UF up to his No. 2 school following the visit. The Gators will have to beat out Ohio State to land his services.
2) Aubrey Solomon, four-star DT, Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County
The Gators have signed just one defensive tackle in the past two classes, so they need to come up big at this position for 2017. Solomon would definitely feel that need. The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder named Florida his leader after visiting for Junior Day last weekend and was seen by defensive coordinator Geoff Collins during the January contact period. Georgia will be UF’s biggest competition for Solomon.
3) Adarius Lemons, four-star RB, Clearwater, Fla. (Clearwater)
The Gators have several of options at running back, but Lemons is the one to watch out for. He has an incredible junior tape, and UF sent multiple coaches to visit him during the contact period. Florida offered Lemons (6-2, 185) back in August of 2015, ahead of programs such as Ohio State, Michigan and Mississippi State. Over the past two weeks, he has received offers from LSU, Miami, Tennessee and South Carolina.
4) Will Ignont, four-star LB, Bradenton, Fla. (IMG Academy)
UF will look to land an elite linebacker in this cycle, and Ignont certainly fits the bill. He’s ranked the No. 3 inside linebacker nationally and has over 20 offers. Ignont took a trip UF on Jan. 15 and will have plenty of opportunities to visit Gainesville this year with his transfer to IMG Academy. He’s from Alabama, so the in-state SEC schools will be heavily in the mix for the 6-foot-2, 238-pounder.
5) Tre’ McKitty, three-star TE, Bradenton, Fla. (IMG Academy)
The Gators are in need of a tight end for 2017, and McKitty is their top target. He has visited UF several times, most recently last weekend, and is a former Miami commit. It may only be a matter of time before McKitty pledges to the Gators, and he could help them recruit Ignont. McKitty (6-4, 220) also has high interest in Florida State.
