GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida football team will be missing another wide receiver for Saturday’s season opener.
C.J. Worton has been ruled out with a high ankle sprain, Gators coach Jim McElwain said Wednesday. Worton suffered the injury during fall training camp and missed several practices.
He tried to return to action this week.
“Worton will not go,” McElwain said. “He won’t dress. He tried a little bit and couldn’t get through it.”
The Gators now have six scholarship wide receivers available against UMass. Tyrie Cleveland, Chris Thompson and Rick Wells are suspended for the game.
