ATLANTA — Florida was likely in need of a special teams or defensive score in order to have a chance to beat Alabama in the SEC championship, and the Gators got a non-offensive score early in the second quarter.
Florida punt returner Antonio Callaway scored on an 85-yard punt after Alabama punter J.K. Scot boomed a punt. Callaway was virtually untouched on his way to the end zone to give the Gators a 7-2 lead.
The 85-yard punt return score was the longest in SEC championship game history.
