GAINESVILLE, Fla. — That special shoe must be working.
Florida wide receiver Brandon Powell had offseason surgery on his ailing foot and missed all of spring football. In his first game back Saturday, Powell came up with the play of the game in the fourth quarter.
He took a screen pass 26 yards for a touchdown to put the Gators up by two scores against UMass. Powell, who now wears a custom-fitted shoe to protect his foot, showed great elusiveness and explosion on the play and looks to be at full speed.
