OXFORD, Ala. — The Florida Gators are looking to sign another strong group of linebackers for 2017, and one of their top targets is Kenney Britt.
The fast-rising recruit from Oxford, Ala., visited UF two months ago and called it the best trip he had been on at the time.
Since then, Florida coach Jim McElwain has been communicating with Britt on a daily basis.
“I talk to coach Mac every day,” Britt said. “We text back and forth and call each other. He tells me whenever I want to commit, he’s down. But he doesn’t pressure me at all.”
Britt said no other coach is pursuing him as hard as McElwain, who only personally recruits a select number of prospects in every recruiting cycle. The Gators currently trail Auburn and Georgia for Britt, but McElwain’s efforts and another trip to UF could change things.
Britt also speaks to defensive coordinator Geoff Collins, linebackers coach Randy Shannon and director of player personnel Drew Hughes.
“I’m going to visit Florida again,” Britt said. “It’s a great environment down there. All the coaches are on the same page and they make me feel at home. And with McElwain talking to me a lot, that’s big.”
