GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The final contact period week for Florida coach Jim McElwain will start with a bang.
McElwain, defensive coordinator Geoff Collins and linebackers coach Randy Shannon head to Montgomery (Ala.) on Monday night for in-home visits with five-star linebacker Lyndell Wilson and UF defensive back commits Antonio Nelson and Jeawon Taylor.
Wilson, the nation’s No. 2-ranked outside linebacker, is close friends with Nelson and Taylor, and all three will officially visit the Gators this weekend. Wilson is coming off trips to Georgia, where he visited with Taylor on Jan. 15, and Alabama. UGA coaches had an in-home visit with Taylor on Sunday.
Earlier Monday, McElwain is seeing three underclassmen in Florida with offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and quality control assistant Marquel Blackwell. They’ll be checking out 2017 four-star running backs C.J. Cotman and Adarius Lemons of Clearwater as well as 2017 athlete Matt Landers from St. Petersburg Admiral Farragut Academy.
Nussmeier and Blackwell paid visits to Cotman and Lemons last Friday.
