Florida received some great news on the recruiting trail late Monday night.
Antonio Nelson, a 3-star defensive back from Carver High School (Montgomery, Ala.), committed to Florida over Western Kentucky, Troy and South Alabama, according to his Twitter account.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder became the Gators’ 23rd commitment in this year’s recruiting class and seventh defensive back commit.
Nelson’s commitment is also important when it comes to the grand scheme of this class. He is teammates and friends with the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker, 5-star Lyndell Wilson, and that could help with the team’s recruitment of him. Wilson currently has Florida as his No. 1 school with Alabama being a close second.
Wilson is expected to announce his commitment on National Signing Day, which is on Feb. 3, 2016.
