Mark Richt may not be the coach at Georgia anymore, but if he’s still at Miami in 2019, he will get another crack at the Bulldogs’ archrival.
Florida and Miami announced that they will face each other to kick off the 2019 season in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl. A new naming rights deal, which goes in effect Wednesday, will change the name from Citrus Bowl to Camping World Stadium.
The Gators faced the Hurricanes annually from 1938-1987 — excluding 1943 — but have faced each other just six times since then, with the latest coming in 2013. Miami won the previous meeting at home, 21-16, and leads the all-time series 29-26.
In addition to the renewed Florida-Miami matchup, Florida State and Ole Miss are scheduled to open the 2016 season in the same Orlando venue, followed by Alabama and Louisville in 2018.
