GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida basketball coach Mike White has decided to redshirt one of his freshmen due to a preseason injury.
Freshman forward Dontay Bassett has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right foot and will undergo surgery, the team announced Friday.
Bassett is facing a projected recovery time of 4-6 months and will thus take a redshirt year.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Oakland, Calif., who played high school basketball in Oldsmar, Fla., was rated a 3-star prospect.
All recuiting grades came from the 247sports composite rating.
