The obvious question for No. 25 Florida heading into its visit at Oklahoma on Saturday is how do the Gators possibly follow up their most recent performance?
The Gators vanquished a two-game losing streak and pulled off an extreme swing of momentum while draining a program-record 19 3-pointers in a 106-71 win at LSU on Wednesday night.
Of course, nobody would expect them to shoot like that again. That was one of the great perimeter shooting performances in SEC history, but the Gators (15-5, 6-2 SEC) will look to build on it nonetheless as they visit Oklahoma (8-11, 2-6 Big 12) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
Florida put on that shooting display without second-leading scorer Canyon Barry, who was sidelined by a sprained ankle. His status remains unclear for this game.
Florida and Oklahoma have met only once before, with the Gators pulling out a 76-72 overtime win in Oklahoma City on Dec. 30, 1995. Overall, Florida is 2-1 all-time in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge with home wins against Kansas and West Virginia and a road loss at Kansas.
The Sooners are coached by former Gators coach Lon Kruger, who went 104-80 at Florida from 1991-96 while leading the program to its first Final Four in 1994.
