The son of Gator great Emmitt Smith now has the opportunity to follow in his father’s footsteps as a collegiate running back.
E.J. Smith, a 2020 recruit from Jesuit High School in Dallas, received a scholarship offer Tuesday from Florida coach Dan Mullen.
Smith shared a video of he and his father discussing the big news on his Twitter account.
I am blessed to say that I have received an offer to go to the University of Florida. Thank you for the opportunity. @SkysTheLimitWR @EJHolland247 @DemetricDWarren @Jason_Howell @FloridaGators @CoachDanMullen pic.twitter.com/RDUKwxGSif

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect also holds early offers from Arkansas, Georgia and Ohio State. According to Bleacher Report, Smith grew up a Florida fan and sleeps with a Gators bust on his nightstand.
However, don’t expect Smith to commit right away. He intends to explore his other options and experience the recruiting process.
“I’m very excited to start my official visits,” he told Bleacher Report. “Florida is the only school that I’ve seen behind the scenes. I want to learn and see a lot more.”
Smith’s father played for the Gators from 1987-89 and was a unanimous first-team All-American in his final season. He set several several records before becoming the NFL’s all-time leading rusher and a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys.
